The Controversies of the Pence and Harris Debate

The Vice Presidential debate was at 9:00 PM- 10:30 PM on Wednesday, October 7th, 2020 at Kingsbury Hall at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Many issues were reviewed to help voters make a responsible decision.

The Vice Presidential debate was between Senator Kamala Devi Harris and Vice President Mike Pence, and it was surely controversial for many people around the globe.

Harris claimed Trump called the Coronavirus a ‘hoax’.

Senator Harris criticized the Trump administration for downplaying the coronavirus. The coronavirus has truly impacted the world in many ways and so Trump calling it a hoax might not be what many people, doctors, or scientists would like to hear.

Pence asks Harris to “…stop playing politics with people’s lives”

Vice President Pence asked Harris to stop playing politics with people’s lives after Harris responded to a question asking if a vaccine was supported by medical professionals like Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases would she take it.

Harris’s response was “I would be first in line to take it but if Donald Trump tells us we should take it I’m not taking it.”

Harris and Pence made sure to stand their ground but Pence was quick to shut down Harris after her debatable response.

Pence claimed that Biden and Harris plan on increasing taxes.

Vice President Pence claimed that Biden and Harris were planning on increasing tax if they win the election. After Pence made that statement Senator Harris was not having it and was quick to respond.

“ Joe Biden has been very clear: he will not raise taxes on anybody that makes less than 400,000 a year,” stated Senator Harris

Kamala Harris surely stood her ground and made sure that the people knew what was going to happen if they win this election.

Harris claimed that she and Biden have a plan for not only California’s wildfires and for pre-existing health-care conditions.

Senator Harris claimed she and Biden have a plan for California’s wildfires and pre-existing health conditions. She accused the Trump administration of failing to prevent the wildfires because they don’t believe in science.

“With regard to wildfires. President Trump and I believe that forest management has to be front and center, even Governor Gavin Newstorm from your state has agreed, we have to work on forest management,” was Vice President Pence’s response concerning the wildfires.

Pence also reaffirmed that he and President Trump were planning on improving healthcare for every American.

Both candidates gave people a glimpse of how they would be and what they would do as Vice President. Senator Kamala Harris said she would make every American stand together and she described it as someone walking into a room.

“But the thing we all know is we never walk in those rooms alone -we are all in that room together,” Senator Harris stated.

Vice President Mike Pence said that he would work harder and would make a difference because he was raised to have faith.

“I was raised to believe in hard work, in faith and family” Mike Pence stated, “Trump will make America great again”.

The candidates did their job but it is up to the people to vote and wisely decide who the next President and Vice President should be.
