Pretzels!

Do you like Pretzels? Well then this Article is for you.

Pretzels were brought to the United States by some Palatine Germans aka the Pennsylvania Dutch in 1710.

Did you know that they weren’t called Pretzels at that time?  They were actually called “Bretzals.”

At first they were just soft, squishy bread, basically soft pretzels. They weren’t any hard pretzels that most people buy today.

It wasn’t until 1861 when a baker fell asleep while a batch of pretzels were cooking in the oven.  By over cooking them, they became a crispy and hard pretzel.

So basically hard pretzels were an accident which is now one of people’s favorite snacks including me!

Here are some fun facts about pretzels.

Did you know pretzel day is on April 26 and National Pretzel Month is October? Did you know that pretzels without salt are called bladies?

Those are some facts about Pretzels! I hope you enjoyed!

Now excuse me while I get a pretzel of my own!
