On December 29, 2024, America lost one of our presidents being Jimmy Carter, our 39th president. He died at 100 years old. Jimmy Carter lived through World War II, the Vietnam War, many elections and more.
January 7, 2025 was his emotional funeral with his body being taken by horseback. The last day of National Mourning in the USA was back in 2018 when the 41st president George H. W. Bush died.
Jimmy was laid to rest at Jimmy Carter National Historical Park, in Plains, Georgia where his wife is also buried.
He was escorted by police bikes and marching members. His entire family came there to celebrate his life.
When I watched the funeral march, there was a horse with no rider which resembles JC himself which is a tradition known as “The Missing Man”.
Now, for a few fun facts.
At the funeral, country singers Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood were there to sing “Imagine” by John Lennon, one of the Beatles members.
Jimmy Carter actually lived longer than the president who replaced him, our 40th president, Ronald Reagen. Ronald was originally the oldest president living at 93 years old! But he outyeared him by 7 years!
And finally, Carter wrote 30 books about his life and even won 3 Grammy awards for audio recordings for 3 of his books.
