The Yankees opening day was last Thursday, March 30, 2023. They played the San Francisco Giants at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

Management made a big move by calling Anthony Volpe up from Double A. Volpe is originally from Watchung, New Jersey.

He started in the opening day lineup but didn’t get a hit during the game. He was walked and stole his first ever MLB base.

It was also Aaron Judge’s first game as team Captain. He wowed the fans with the first home run of the 2023 season.

Later during the game, Gleyber Torres also hit a 2-run home run.

Gerrit Cole had the most strikeouts by a Yankee ever on an opening day. He had 12 strikeouts that game.

The Yankees brought home a win with a score of 5-0.
