If you asked someone who their favorite soccer player is, they’d probably say one of the following:

1. Ronaldo

      2. Messi

     3.  Neymar

These three players are all playing in the 2022 World Cup: Messi for Argentina, Ronaldo for Portugal, and Neymar for Brazil. All three players have stated that this may be their last World Cup before their retirement.

The sad truth is that only one of them can win.

These players are known to be the greatest of all time although none of them have ever won a World Cup before. That’s what makes this one so special.

 I know so many people who were encouraged to play soccer just because of them. Their careers have inspired many and seeing them go soon is like watching the end of a great era.

Luis Lionel Andres Messi was born on June 24th, 1987 in Rosario, Argentina. Messi currently holds the record for most goals scored in La Liga with 474 goals. He has the most assists in the entire world! He’s won loads of trophies and titles. Here are some of them: Ten La Liga titles, four UEFA Champions League titles, seven Copa del Reys, seven Ballon d’Ors. Messi is very known for his ability to have immaculate ball control and being able to dribble around multiple players. Messi doesn’t go down easily and it’s very hard to defend him. His excellent play making also makes him very talented. 

Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro was born February 5th, 1985 in Funchal, Portugal. He was the first player ever to score a goal in five different World Cups. Ronaldo is the all-time top goal scorer in the Champions League with 140 goals. Here is a list of trophies he has won: five UEFA Champions League titles, five Ballan d’Or’s, 19 top goal scorer awards, and four Eureopean Golden Shoes. Ronaldo is well-known for his historical bicycle kick, amazing finishes on freekicks, and his ability to score tons of goals with his head. Ronaldo has a great mentality which is one of the many reasons why he’s one of the best players to live.

Neymar da Silva Santos Junior was also born on Feburuary 5th in 1992. He was born in Mogi das Cruzes, São Paulo, Brazil. In 2012, Neymar was named top player in South America. He also won an Olympic gold medal in the summer of 2016. Some of Neymar’s famous titles include: 4 French Super Cups, 1 Confederations Cup, 4 top scorer awards, and 3 Copa del Reys. Neymar is well-known for his confidence to do tricks on the field and cause entertainment. One thing he’s very good at is the rainbow flick. Neymar’s creativity and passion on the field is what makes him a very good player.
